Textile House 2696

Textile Shelter
Den Haag, 2025

Commissioned by the Municipality of The Hague’s Housing Department, presented at Museon museum. Designed to be mobile and fit through standard doorways. The Netherlands discards 750,000 tonnes of textiles annually. Three IBC frames form a symbolic house, two as walls, one as a jeans roof. The skin is built from textile surplus: workwear, denim, towels, threaded through the cage grid to form a dense thermal envelope. The installation inspires visitors to think about insulation differently, and about what we throw away.
