Chicken Wrap
For the opening of St. Lucas’ new building in Eindhoven during Dutch Design Week, the school commissioned Refunc to realize a monumental chicken structure conceived by Erik Kessels from KesselsKramer. Collaborating with Stageco, Refunc executed the installation using industrial shrinkwrap techniques, demonstrating their approach to lightweight, temporary architecture. The shrinkwrapping process continued despite rainfall, proving the method’s practical resilience. The project exemplifies function-shifting principles applied to ephemeral construction: adapting industrial packaging technology for architectural-scale installations. The result achieved maximum visual impact with minimal material investment, embodying Refunc’s philosophy of temporary structures through material redirection.
