Chair Arena, Berlin 2017
Five hundred rented folding chairs. One connection type. One transport. After State of Design Berlin, everything returns to the rental company literally circular.
The chairs remain unchanged, stacked and interlocked to create a self-supporting spatial structure. Material logistics become design method: repetition generates complexity, temporary assembly creates monumental presence.
No modification, no waste, no leftovers. The installation exists in the gap between rental and return, proving that circular design doesn’t require new materials, just different thinking about existing ones.
Architecture as borrowed time. Five hundred chairs that never stopped being chairs.
