We hire interns
Refunc operates between the Netherlands and Germany, transforming discarded industrial materials into architectural installations and functional objects. We’re looking for interns who want to work hands-on with surplus materials like IBC containers, shipping containers, car tires, pallets, fridges, chairs, scaffolding etc.etc.
What you’ll do:
- Work directly in our workshop at Maakhaven/Spui or Berlin
- Learn function-shifting methodology – identifying what materials want to become rather than forcing them into predetermined forms
- Participate in real projects from concept to installation
- Develop skills in material assessment, construction techniques, and circular design thinking
- Build installations that get exhibited and used
What we’re looking for:
- Interest in circular design and material transformation
- Hands-on mentality and willingness to work in a workshop environment
- Basic understanding of construction or design (architecture, industrial design, or related fields)
- Self-motivated and able to work independently
- Dutch or German language skills helpful but not required
Internships typically run 3-6 months. You’ll learn by doing – working with actual materials on actual projects, not only creating speculative designs.
