Genius Loci Workshop
The Genius Loci workshop explores how site-specific architectural elements and vernacular construction techniques can be studied and reinterpreted using locally available discarded materials. Participants document distinctive building details, joinery systems, and structural patterns that define the location’s character. The site needed big gestures, structures at architectural scale that could hold space and create presence. Working hands-on at 1:1 scale with plastic pallets and wood sourced from the immediate environment, teams physically reconstruct observed construction logics through new material applications. The workshop methodology asks what these industrial components can become when responding to local building intelligence. The resulting prototypes function as architectural research and temporary installations, bridging historical construction knowledge with contemporary material flows while embodying the genius loci through transformed industrial waste.
